Westside Beat the Street Spelling Bee!

Young Creative Minds is organizing the 2nd Westside Beat the Streets Spelling Bee in cooperation with local schools in Austin.  The Spelling Bee will be hosted by Austin Town Hall 5610 W. Lake St,l on April 8th-10th, 2010.

The Spelling Bee was developed by Young Creative Minds to provide Austin students - grades 3 through 12 - an opportunity to engage in an activity that encourages healthy competition and public recognition for academic excellence.  The spelling bee will help participants learn new vocabulary, improve study skills, as well as grammar and spelling.  This learning will enhance and complement their current academic curriculums in school.

The event will involve the entire community. Students will be involved as participants, their parents and educator as coaches and chaperones.  Local public officials, businesses and organizations will help provide sponsorship for awards, others event supplies, and possibly serve as judges for the semi-final and final rounds.
